Author's Note: The one thing that sets Yuri!!! On Ice apart from other animés is that all the skaters are inspired by real-life counterparts. For this Main Round, I decided to take inspiration from the skating programs that their real-life counterparts chose, and how each of them makes their home on the ice.

Track 1
Yuri PLISETSKY, Russia
Real-life counterpart: Yulia LIPNISKAYA
Music: Schindler's List | 2014 Sochi Olympics free skate
Track 2
KATSUKI Yuri, Japan
Real-life counterpart: HANYU Yuzuru
Music: Seimei | 2018 PyeongChang Olympics free skate
Track 3

Music: Lovers in a Dangerous Time | 2018 exhibition skate
Track 5
Christophe GIACOMETTI, Switzerland
Real-life counterpart: Stéphane LAMBIEL

Music: Bring Me To Life | 2011 exhibition skate
Track 6
Phichit CHULANONT, Thailand
Real-life counterpart: Micah LYNETTE
Music: Ameksa: The Shepard | 2018 ISU Junior Grand Prix short program
Born in Hawaii to a Thai mother, Micah Lynette is Thailand's Senior Men's Figure Skating National Champion. Despite his late start in his chosen career, he aspires to go to the Olympics one day.
Bonus track 1
Viktor NIKIFOROV, Russia
Real-life counterpart: Evgeni PLUSHENKO

Music: Believe - Dima Bilan | 2008 Eurovision Song Contest winner
The greatest Russian figure skating legend and four-times Olympics champion, Evgeni Plushenko is a well-known name to anyone with an interest in figure skating. This bonus track features Believe by Dima Bilan, the song that put Russia on the international music platform in Europe, and features Plushenko as the lead dancer on a tiny ice rink they specially installed on the stage for him. Do watch out for the amazing spin at 02:40!
Bonus track 2
Stéphane Lambiel
Music: Gimme Sexy Back - Britney Spears / Justin Timberlake remix | 2008 exhibition skate
If you didn't think Track 5 adequately explains why Lambiel is the inspiration for Giacometti... well. That would be because a real figure skating competition has restrictions on the kind of music you can select.
Bonus track 3
Johnny Weir
Music: Poker Face | 2010 exhibition skate
Unfortunately he didn't make it into the Grand Prix Finals in Yuri!!! On Ice, but Johnny Weir is one of America's top figure skaters, and an openly gay man. This is his exhibition skate programme in 2010, in which he has a lot of fun. Despite not being a main character in the show, he was kind enough to do an interview about it.

His excitement is shared by some other top figure skaters, for instance Ashley Wagner, the inspiration for Mila Babicheva. She is the 2016 World silver medalist, the 2012 Four Continents champion, a three-time Grand Prix Final medalist, and a three-time U.S. national champion.

Track 1
Yuri PLISETSKY, Russia
Real-life counterpart: Yulia LIPNISKAYA
Music: Schindler's List | 2014 Sochi Olympics free skate
At age 15, Yulia Lipniskaya became the youngest Olympics gold medalist in figure skating. Just like 15-year-old Yuri(o), her phenomenal short program + free skate has cemented her a place on the world stage despite her age.
Track 2
KATSUKI Yuri, Japan
Real-life counterpart: HANYU Yuzuru
Music: Seimei | 2018 PyeongChang Olympics free skate
The top figure skater in Japan, Hanyu Yuzuru, wanted to bring a little piece of Japan with him onto the ice. His free skate programme Seimei is inspired by the soundtrack of the films Onmyōji and Onmyōji 2, and for his choreography he met with the actor who portrayed Seimei in the movies for advice.
Track 3
Jean Jack LEROY, Canada
Real-life counterpart: Patrick CHAN
Music: Lovers in a Dangerous Time | 2018 exhibition skate
Denis Ten was better known as the figure skater who put Kazakhstan on the map. He was the first Kazakhstani figure skater at the World Championships, Four Continents Championships, Asian Winter Games, and the Olympic Games. For his 2017 free skate programme, he chose a song written by his friend, the Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dimash Kudaibergen, best known for his wide vocal range of 6 octaves.
Track 5
Christophe GIACOMETTI, Switzerland
Real-life counterpart: Stéphane LAMBIEL

Music: Bring Me To Life | 2011 exhibition skate
Not only does Stéphane Lambiel have a character inspired by him, but he also guest-starred as a voice actor in the actual animé. Just like Giacometti, he's famous for his dramatic expressiveness on the ice.
